Formant Synthesis Demo

Very very nice this no-install application.
It shows the relation between formants and vowels, with the possibility to change pitch, source wave, shape, bandwidht.
For win, linux and mac.

What is this?
This application demonstrates formant-based synthesis of vowels in real time, in the spirit of Gunnar Fant’s Orator Verbis Electris (OVE-1) synthesizer of 1953.
How to use
Set source and filter parameters at the top. Click and drag in the “vowel space” to hear the vowels.
Right-click to select target language for vowel symbols.
LPC power spectrum of source (red) and output signal (green) are to the right, waveforms are displayed at the bottom.
The source type “sampled” will use a sound file containing a single period of a waveform as voice source.

Overtone Analyzer 1.0

E’ stata rilasciata la versione stabile di Overtone Analyzer – ex beta version – per Windows, nelle verioni Lite, Standard e Premium.

Specifico subito, il software non è free, non è open source, si possono scaricare i trial per provarlo per 30 giorni, dopo i quali, per utilizzarlo, va acquistato.

Devo dire di sentirmi un pò orgoglioso nel rilasciare questo annuncio per vari motivi:

probabilmente sono il primo in Italia a darne l’annuncio, dato che sono stato avvisato ieri dal suo ideatore Bodo Maass – l’annuncio ufficiale forse verrà dato al prossimo Voice Symposium di Salisburgo o comunque nei prossimi giorni – e poi mi sento in parte coinvolto in quanto ultimamente sono stato interpellato spesso da Bodo per il testing finale e come consulente vocale per vedere come implementare alcune features future che ho in mente.

Sia chiaro, Overtone Analyzer è stato ideato e compilato da Bodo Maass in non pochi anni di lavoro, con la consulenza di Wolfgang Saus per quanto riguarda l’overtone singing, e in futuro anche con la mia per quanto riguarda un utilizzo più ampio del software, dedicato magari anche al cantante d’opera (extra formante di canto) o allo studioso di fonetica.

Sul sito sygyt.com trovate tutte le caratteristiche tecniche delle tre versioni trial Lite, Standard e Premium.

Prossimamente dovrei realizzare dei video tutorial.

Overtone Analyzer 1.0 was released, the last version.

Bodo Maass, the boss, told me the news yesterday. I’m very happy for this because next time we’ll work togheter about some new features for this incredible software. Now it is very useful for overtone-singers, thanks to Wolfgang Saus too, as a spectrum analyzer, for acoustic of sounds and visual feedback for singers, a very useful feature, so we think to study new possibilities for opera singers, for example. But not only.
